Two suspects have opened fire at an arts festival in New Jersey, injuring at least 20 people, prosecutors say. One of the suspects was killed at the scene.

The incident happened at about 2:45 a.m. ET on Sunday when officers were called to reports of shots being fired at the “Art All Night” festival in Trenton, a city about 52 miles (84 kilometers) southwest of New York City.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said at least 2 people opened fire, but there was no immediate word on the circumstances of the shooting. Witnesses said a fight may have preceded the shooting.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed that at least 20 people were injured in Sunday’s shooting, which happened when hundreds of people were gathered at the venue. Four of the victims, including a 13-year-old boy, were reported to be in critical condition.

One of the suspects was killed at the scene, but it was not immediately clear how he had been killed, although officials confirmed that at least one police officer had fired their weapon. The second suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken into custody.
