Daniel Dion, the brother of pop singer Céline Dion, has died of cancer at the age of 59, just days after Céline’s husband and manager René Angélil passed away.

Dion’s representative, Kim Jakwerth, confirmed that Daniel died in Montreal on Saturday, but provided no other details. The report came just hours after it emerged that Daniel was battling cancer and had been given just days to live. There was no immediate comment from the singer on the death of her brother, who is one of Céline’s siblings.

The death comes just two days after René Angélil died after a long battle with throat cancer. Angélil was diagnosed with throat cancer back in 1998 and passed away on Thursday at the couple’s home in Las Vegas. The passing of Angélil was relatively unexpected because he had been feeling better in recent days. Angélil and Dion married in 1994 and had 3 children together.
