Afghan Member of Parliament Fakuri Beheshti has been injured after an explosion targeted his vehicle outside a mosque in Kabul, officials and witnesses say. The politician’s bodyguard was killed in the blast.

The attack occurred just after 9 a.m. local time on Wednesday when a large explosion happened on a road in Dasht-e-Barchi, which is an area in the western part of the capital. It happened close to the Alzahra mosque.

Only few details were immediately available, but the explosion appeared to target an SUV that was carrying member of parliament Fakori Behishti. Photos from the scene show a heavily damaged SUV near the site of the blast.
