SkyWest Airlines Flight 5869 has caught fire while landing at Denver International Airport after a flight from Aspen, officials and witnesses say. All passengers were safely evacuated and there were no injuries.

The incident happened at about 2:21 p.m. MT on Sunday when Flight 5869, which was operated by a CRJ-700 aircraft, touched down at the airport. Its left engine then caught fire either during or right after landing.

A spokesperson for Denver International Airport said all passengers were safely evacuated and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Photos and video from the scene showed flames coming from the plane’s left engine as passengers were being evacuated. “Quick and immediate response .. Huge thanks to pilot and crew for helping get passengers off safe,” one passenger said on Twitter.

SkyWest Airlines Flight 5869 was flying from Aspen-Pitkin County Airport in Colorado.

It was not immediately known what may have caused Sunday’s fire, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the aircraft had reported a tire fire, which may have caused the engine’s cowling to catch fire.

An investigation is underway.
