Passenger plane carrying 71 people crashes near Moscow

A Saratov Airlines plane carrying more than 70 people has crashed near the Russian capital of Moscow, local news agencies report. There was no immediate word on the fate of those on board.

The incident happened on early Sunday afternoon after the plane, an Antonov An-148 aircraft, took off from Moscow’s Domodedovo airport for a flight Orsk. It was carrying 65 passengers and six crew members.

The incident involves Saratov Airlines Flight 6W703.

The Interfax news agency reported that the aircraft disappeared from radar and went down near the village of Argunovo. Eyewitnesses said the aircraft was on fire, the agency said, without providing details about the fate of those on board.
